(Cross posted from the Merchant ning site)

Though we were off to a late start we did have a number of people in attendance. Daren Blackadder went over the explanation of how his system works for those who have not seen it before. Our local group was joined by a special guest from Aosagi sims, Silicant Tungsten. His group is looking for action with pirates and the trading system. So some time was spent reviewing the system and clarifying the FAQ that Eddy Cannonball has posted on this Merchant ning group. It was basically a review of how things work and discussion of how it could work between our sims and the Aosagi sims. I would post the log but it is a bit jumbled, where we had voice meeting supplemented by typed summaries of what they were talking about.

(Note: The meeting was partly voice because our guest stated he has pain when typing and for those who do not speak English or could not turn on headphones to listen, the speakers attempted to type summaries of the points they were making. They also apologize to any who felt left out of the meeting because of the use of voice chat.)

Silicant Tungsten provided the following text summary of his sims and what they are about:

[2009/07/03 12:27] Silicant Tungsten: *Purpose:
Strategy level meeting to determine what is needed to setup effective role play in Aosagi. Currently there are RP Groups that combine trade of perishable goods with combat events.

*Overview:
Aosagi is an Edo period Japanese sim. It is divided into four regions, the Dutch port of Dejima, the flower town Gion Kobu Hanamachi, the castle mountain Shiro Yama and the badlands Ronin no Kuni. The East side is a safe zone, the West side is not.

Aosagi has a river with a Dutch harbor, Dejima, at the north end and a lake at the south end. There is the Shogunate Sake House in the middle next to a local dock. The river winds thru hills and low peaks, to the lake. Historically the harbor was run by the VoC under the authority of the Japanese government

As well he provided the summary of how the Trading strategy will work in his sim, which has a river not an ocean.

[2009/07/03 12:53] Silicant Tungsten: *Target Scenario:
A ship takes delivery of perishable goods at another sim. The ship then must evade or battle pirate ships in those foreign waters. If it wins, it then proceeds to Aosagi sim to the north or south end of the Aosagi river.

There are three docking points where cargo can be unloaded.
The first is in Dejima harbor next to the warehouse.
The second is at the bend next to The Shogunate Sake House.
The third is at the lake in Aosagi Nanbu.

While the ship is in the river it can be attached from land by boarders jumping aboard from above. It can also be attacked from a smaller ship.
While the ship is unloading, it can be attacked by men on land.

If the delivery is completed to the Shogunate Sake House, the game is over.
If the delivery is to the Dutch Warehouse in Dejima, the goods may still be stolen. As the warehouse is a way point for another ship to pickup from.

(Silicant clarified that there are non-combat areas and Geisha areas and Geisha are not to be attacked for any reason)

If goods are unloaded at the dock next to the Shogunate Sake House or on the land next to the lake, it must be cart

Captain Bedlam Clarified that he has a Delivery point in his Outpost at the Keys.

Captain Larnia stated that there will be two delivery points at Jamaica sim, one for smugglers in the big cave, and one for 'legal' trade by the fruit stand on the beach.

Scattered Sideways has been contacted by Captain Larnia for ideas on what items are considered 'contraband' by RAN to add the smuggling level to the game.

Senator Bing has withdrawn her participation from the trading game.

Daren stated that Eddy Cannonball has a list of delivery points which he will get to Silicant at a later time. Lagoon sim was stated as the rez point for incoming visiting sailors.

All in attendance at the meeting were invited to the Aosagi sims to watch fireworks and test the river for sailing later that evening.

Link to the intersim merchant ning was handed out.
