Antiquity Community

Community - The Heart of Antiquity

Just an introductory thread to solicit ideas for the RAN - I have a few I'd like to run by, and wanted to gage interest in some thought...

1) A list of ships active in Antiquity - At one point (when Antiquity was still young), I had a website called "Ships of the Line", which ideally was to focus on listing ships that residents had, including backgrounds and photos (to display those long hours modding ships). Unfortunatly, it passed along awhile back, but would there be intersted in restarting such a thing?

2) Results from battles - as everyone knows, many battles take place in Antiquity, but the results never seem to emerge to the general public. Would an informal roster of wins be of interst? (I don't think losses need be published (lol))...

Any other suggestions would most certainly be of interst, of course!

Dr Fabre,
These ideas are good, and will further enhance our sea faring activities.
We now have THREE active Navies in Antiquity, as well as our Pirate Community, and there are rumblings from Portugal.
This all makes for very exciting RP possibilities!!
"Ships of the Line" listing would also be an excellent resource, and a good site to browse.
Results from battles would also make for good reading.

I think results would indeed be interesting... but... is there anyone out there who would be willing to give a recap? Our Governor is already well overtaxed... any volunteers??

Well, I had intened to begin a simple blog setup to display any ships (as the photos and images were provided), and perhpas list the results on a side bar. Quite a simple affair, I was just hoping to gage interest in the idea.

Yes I like both ideas!

Especially the results from battles may stir up the level of competition and maybe even participation. I only hope we will get more battles during EU hours. The number of those seem to have dropped to almost zero.

The "Ships of the Line" shouldn't be a problem - I can put together a supplemental blog, and the only other thing I'd need would be some submisssions - e.g. Photo of a ship (or two), name, class, Captain, aligment (e.g. RAN, German, Pirate group), and it can start rolling along.

The "Scoring" (or whatever it would be called) part might be a bit more difficult, as I'd need someone to IM.Notacard the results of battles to me. I'd probably want to designate a few specific people, but I think it should work (it is usually pretty easy to determine a winner, but I would guess that some circumstances (e.g. sims going offline) would require a judge to make a ruling.

Even so, I'll touch base with Angus, and make a posting to drum up interest.

The "Ships of the Line" blog is up, and I'm in the process of "smoothing" it out. To take a peek at it, please go to:
