I was catching up with a few Baronesses on the weekend, and began to giggle over the plural.
(Yes, prolly ate WAY too much Vegemite on toast that morning.)

So, what IS the plural of Baroness?

BARONESSES?

BARONESSI?

And what would one call a collection of Baronesses?

A Tiara of Baronessi?

A Jewell of Baronesses?

A Curtsy of Baroness?

A Gaggle of Baronesses?

And Duchesses?

Hmmmm....

Would love to hear your thoughts.

No idea Baronesses looked fine when you wrote it (gaggle?)

It is indeed baronesses.

As for the collective noun, this site gives a few pointers - http://users.tinyonline.co.uk/gswithenbank/collnoun.htm

Unfortunately, the only relevance I found was 'a thought of barons' and my own 'a prudence of vicars' :)

I'm inclined to go with 'a gaggle' :)

Gaggle is good Vicar, but I am also amused by some of the suggested groupings.

How about a Charm of Baronesses?

Or perhaps a Plump of Baronesses?
