Two more days until the Duke and Duchess are married! Can we all survive this? I still don't know if we'll be able to TP to the place in Antiquity Garden where I'm supposed to shoot the wedding party. And I don't know what route the carriages will take to the ballroom. *sigh*

My mentor, Peter Elfelt experimented with cinemascopes, commonly called "magic lanterns." The effects can be quite amazing.

For a short time my flagship The Bonny Anne will be out on the waters at Antiquity Keys. Inside the captain's cabin, on the window sill is a Victorian Zoetrope with three amazing moving pictures - a charging buffalo, a man doing somersaults and a wonderful equestrian. To start the Zoetrope moving, just click it, and to change the picture, click that.

I wonder where this science will lead to? I've even heard tell of a magic lantern that works similarly!

That makes me think of a shoot I was doing for a customer one time. She wanted to do some nudes with a feather boa. So I was going to rez this boa and move it around shooting so I could composite it in later. Every time I tried I got this message, "Can't rez this object. The parcel is full." So I had to move the shoot to a sandbox.

It turns out the silly boa was 110 prims. Be careful of the props you decide to use.

A note on Avatar Rendering Cost (ARC): Very often weapons have two parts, one visible and one invisible. Drawing the weapon or putting it way switches which is visible. Often the ARC of the invisible one is higher than the visible, so if you are in a non-combat situation, you can reduce lag by detaching the one that's not visible.

Thanks for the group..more ideas to bounce off each other. It is amazing how far the inworld camera can travel :))

I'm sure that everyone knows this trick, its the very first thing people should do with a new SL viewer, go to Advanced, then check "Disable Camera Constraints" to enable greater flexibility with your view.

The next thing, also is the Advanced menu is click "Quiet Snapshots to Disk" so that you can make pictures without the noise inworld which gives away that you're making pictures.

BTW, 'make' a picture ... lol ... in preference to 'take' a picture
