RP should always come first in my book. My only comment about the use of a meter, is if you are going to use one... it might as well be a good one. Anything I come up with will be an attempt to support RP, not replace it. In some instances, it's j...

I understand the reason for going the open source route. It just isn't appropriate for every type of project. It is true, Antiquity is a hard sell for a new system. I am developing my system for a larger audience, but compatible with Antiquity's ...

Ahoy Pamus, I think one of the reasons so many people are looking for a new system beyond SPD & SPD-J is the overwhelming lack of anything but simplistic point/shoot & hack/slash combat. Ease of use is absolutely key. HUDs should not be excessiv...

Based on the activities and behavior seen IN Antiquity, open sourced combat scripts WILL be exploited here. Anyone can adjust their meter to do, or negate, damage as they see fit. Any safeguard to prevent such cheating would be open to manipulatio...

An open sourced combat system is a bad idea. It will introduce cheating and exploitation on an even more grand scale than we have seen in the past.

What has brought you to Antiquity?
Initially I visited the Antiquity area while investigating search results for period ships, as I rather enjoy sailing in SL. When I discovered that there was a community heavily involving sailing, and which offered naval combat mixed in with piracy, I fell in love with the place. My experiences thus far have been positive, and I have made a home in Antiquity as a result of these positive experiences. I look forward to finding out what's to come...
Tell us a little about your SL self?
I have been a SL resident since January of 2006, and I make my way as a builder and scripter. I have always enjoyed sailing in Second Life, and I am discovering the wonders of naval combat. I have been a DJ for a couple of SL clubs, and I have done some SL mentoring in the past. :)

Greetings all,

Many of you may have noticed that I rarely talk about Real Life in Second Life. Well, generally this is due to my desire to come in here and forget about real life issues and just enjoy virtual reality for a bit. Well, today I am going to break out of the norm and share a bit of my Real Life with ye.

As many of you noticed (due to the number of IM's I received when I logged in last night... lol) I have been offline for a few days. People apparently thought I disappeared, never t… Continue

SPD's New Direction

Greetings and Salutations all,

Not sure how many of you are aware of the new direction Chase plans to take SPD, so I thought I would bring it up here.

While posting about the new naval combat system that I have in development, one of the main concerns people brought to my attention with a new system is the potential loss of investment in their existing ships. Most people don't want to have to purchase new ships to use a new system, as the expense already incurred coupled with the expense of ac… Continue

"Bedlam's Hull-Be-Gone" - Sunken hull auto-cleanup (SPD/TSS)

Greetings and Salutations!

I have created a freebie script which I would like to provide to all who sail SPD or TSS vessels. Basically, the script listens for a link message sent by TSS and SPD ships when they are sunk, and converts the hull to "Temporary" status. This places your sunken and immobile hull into the Region Server's "garbage collection" queue, and it will be deleted automatically when the region clears temporary prims. This can take from a few seconds to a couple of minutes depend… Continue
