ANTIQUITY Jamaica - Runaway Bay - Draft of Invasion and Occupation roleplay senarios

NOTE: This is specific to the Antiquity Jamaica sim. This is ONLY for MY sim. It is NOT any official addition to any existing sim rules. But it is made public as it is a draft and I have been talking to my tier paying residents this week about this scenario. Just to be clear, these rules/guides do not apply to any other sim in Antiquity. It is posted for the sake of FYI information. Antiquity Jamaica Runaway Bay is designed as a roleplay sim first and foremost. All persons wanting to engage in… Continue

A Rebel's Work is Never Done

Moonlight glistens off the calm waters of Runaway bay as the hull of the corsair cuts across the small rise of waves. The moonlight beams down through a lightly clouded sky lending a magical feel to the small village built up by the beach. The tall, tattooed, dark haired woman at the wheel gives the command and all hands worked to furl the sails and drop the anchor. At last she was home. Anna-Maria dismisses the crew and sets off in a row boat for shore. The mountains rise high on the horizon an… Continue

Seedy Side of 1870's San Francisco

This is a very detailed account circa 1872 of the seedy side of victorian life in San Francisco. I have yet to read it in full but the author is very descriptive and it is a good read so far! Continue

Example of Roleplay - Blast from the Past

I recently, and quite happily, discovered that there are some roleplay logs from a roleplay game I played for approximately 8 years. I have posted the link below to show some of our work. This is the style of roleplay that I am USED to and absolutely adore. In this log you will see example of roleplay leading to conflict, resolved by ROLEPLAYED combat and the use of a very rudimentary dice system to determine success or failure of a typed action. Setup: I play a character in the log named Nazee… Continue

Personal Log: The Thomas Baddingham Delima

I met this man while I was still employed by the American colony. I sailed in one day to find this large intimidating, loud and well dressed Scotsman patrolling the beaches of the Americas bay. We spent a good deal of time together in the colony during the final days. But then the British came and decimated the Village. I have had some serious issues and doubts about my involvement with the Privateer branch of the Continental forces. They had been sending out patrols and invasion forces to Jabb… Continue

Physics of Sailing 101

Since a discussion popped up yesterday on battle chat about the use of square sails to get out of irons on SPD ships, I have been looking for some correlation between how the ships behave in SL to the RL sailing physics. So I found this nice little page here that has diagrams and yes, some physics terminology but I can understand! Check it out here: The Physics of Sailing Continue

Captain's Log: La Loca Del Mar's Occupation of Runaway Bay Jamaica

It has been months since I overtook the Merchant vessel from the East India Trading company. The vessel has served me well and taken me to distant cities where I have been able to unload the goods. One such place was a little bay on edge of Jamaica, it is little known to most sailors and the British Navy seems to be more interested in maintaining control of Port Royal. The locals here are a proud and admirably strong people open to trade. I have managed to strike a deal with them, I will protect… Continue

A uniquely Jamaican Mermaid Story

Since this is copyrighted material I will not cut and paste the story into this site. This story is about the Mermaid and the Comb. It is a uniquely Jamaican story and I encourage everyone to follow the link to read it in it's entirety. I had originally done a search to see if there were any mermaid myths in the vicinity of Jamaica and I was inundated with all sorts of information and links. This is a story that seems to be common among many sites but is best published in this gazette form. Need… Continue

My Role as Senator

For me role playing and sim ownership are two different things. So for me to be role playing a Senator I can't do it with a Pirate persona. So if I show up to meetings in some other Avatar Form then that is what is going on. To me the Senator position is more about sim representation and is an Out of Character position for me. In Character I would have absolutely no say in what goes on politically with Runaway Bay Jamaica, I just sail there, kick back, fish and enjoy the abundant fruit during… Continue

Captain's Log - News from the Americas

I have traveled far and wide these past few months. My task as the Merchant Captain with the Americas colonies has proven quite lucrative. I have aquired textiles from India as well as a comodity made from flower seeds known as poppies. The people I have traded with seems to really like the smoke from this product. It is quite relaxing, maybe better than rum! During my layover in my home port of Tortuga I have received word that the colony in the Americas has gone rogue. Apparently the British… Continue

The Jukebox

For kicks and giggles I've added a Jukebox to my profile sheet. Loaded up with at least 6 or 7 versions of the Watch Tower which has been discussed at length in one of my other blog posts. Along with other piratey songs, sailing songs and so forth. I'll be adding to this music other songs that inspire me while I am thinking/doing SL. I have some seabitch inspired songs too. LOL Anyway, head over to my Profile and enjoy. Leave the screen up for a while and the songs will cycle through. Continue

First Hand Accounting of a Bucaneer's LIfe

I found this today it is a translation of a text written by a man who joined a group of Bucaneers/Pirates and sailed with them for several years. It is an accounting of their adventures and misdeeds. There is no hollywood stuff in here folks and apparently it is reportedly quite toe curling. I have not read it all yet but there is an interesting list of chapter contents in the beginning so I think folks can skip around to the incidents that sound interesting to them, or they can just flip the pa… Continue
