Today when doing some admin work for His Grace, I meet a lovely lady. I helped her complete her LL ticket to transfer a sim and while we were talking it transpired that her sim was in the shape of Australia. I asked, could I come see a depiction of my native land. She tp'd me there and I spent some time just wondering, feeling a little like I had gone 'home'.

She realised fairly quickly that I was a fellow Australian and we started chatting about all things Aussie eventually getting around to the typical question of which state do you come from. The answer ended up being my home state. So discussed that for a while, as one does.

Then I mentioned how I'd lived in many counties/councils of my capital city except for the west side. The lady mentioned she came from a particular county/council which was where I'd left the island to travel to this vast place called America.

I then responded with my suburb and it turned out that she lives there still. She then mentioned her road name, it was the same! I then mentioned living opposite the hospital, this is where it got quiet. She lived about 10 houses away from me!

So does this mean the world just shrunk even further? Here I am, literally half way around the world and I meet a lady I've most likely spoken to walking past with her dog. So I ask you, what are the odds!

Great story ... Oz has so few people, compared to the rest of the world, and I'm constantly amazed how far they 'travel' and how much impact they have. It must be the secret ingredient in vegemite.

I once met someone online whose grandmother's name was the same as mine ... the fairly obscure Scottish surname was a coincidence, but to have the same first name as well ... that was just stunning!

There could be some truth to the 'six degrees of seperation' theory.

I love hearing stories like that! I live in California, US and used to talk to a boy who lived in Australia. After talking to him for awhile, he mentioned that his father was from California. As it turned out, his father lived right down the street from me. The guy used to be an international surf champion who happened to meet this boy's mother during a tournament in Australia.

Aye, well and I can't count the number of people I've met in SL who either have lived or do live in Minneapolis, even within a mile or two of my apartment.

Wow!! Talk about a very small world! I love it when you can reach out and touch your old familar life!! It's like an old familar coat that you haven't worn in years... it just feels so right when you put it on!!

I think that is marvelous and how nice to feel a piece of home again. (Turns out sazzy and I lived 4 miles apart 20 years ago and never met). The world is quite small these days I think.
